Interesting review of a tasty beer (I’d give it high marks too).  Be sure to read their full post via beervader if you enjoy Star Wars references mixed in with beer reviews:

Schlafly Reserve Imperial Stout is one of my beers tonight. This beer is very strong and very good. This one I enjoyed with BEARable Beers and my wife out on the patio of a great place called Smooth Endings in MO. We all enjoyed the bourbon taste of this beer and in saying that if you are not big in the stronger alcohol this beer might not be for you. This beer I felt would be best enjoyed with a cigar or a juicy steak and you don’t want to rush it because if you do, it will bite you hard and in saying that here is the beer specs: …

At least to me, this beer sounds like a terrible idea in combination of their flavors, even if the individual tastes could be quite satisfying.  Has anyone else noticed a trend in strange beer combinations as of late?

Rogue’s Voodoo Doughnut Bacon Maple Ale. This beer is disgusting! Over powering Smokey flavor.

Interesting review, via beeradelphia:

120 Minute IPA – Dogfish Head Brewery, Milton, DE.
ABV: 15-20% (I believe this year’s sat around 18%)

Style: Imperial IPA.
Seasonality: Rotating (once a year).
Drank: 12 oz. bottle, snifter.
Pour: Thick pour, with a hazy copper color. No head, but leaves good lacing.
Aroma: Lots of alcohol, sweet malts, and lots of citrus hops.
Taste: Sticky sweet malts, citrusy hops, and alcohol. Bready finish.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied and dry.
Unaged, this is pretty good. Very heavy, and very hot. Quite sweet, but the bitter citrus from the hops provides a nice contrast. Balanced, for as big as it is. Take a cue from the bottle, and put this one in your cellar for a year or two. Age will definitely be kind to this beer.

Boulevard Wheat was one of my first local, craft beers and remains a favorite every time I visit my hometown (St. Louis, MO).  Boulevard is now the second largest brewer in Missouri (A-B being the biggest), and has gained a reputation in the craft beer community for a variety of the brews.  Yet you may be surprised to learn its also one of the few craft beers you’re likely to see served alongside macro-brew at a college party (at least in Missouri)…
Review via bearablebeer:

What better beer for my first review back than the beer that put Kansas City on the map? This beer is served just as many (if not more (seriously)) than Bud Light here in KC.
The wheat beer pours a hazy golden straw color with a couple of fingers of white head that disappears fast.
Not a lot makes it to the nose, just a bit of yeast.
Not a strong flavor, but is years beyond most American wheats. Yeast and citrus throughout most the taste.
Great carbonation for the style, light in body.
Not a bad beer when going to Applebees or a sports bar, but there is a reason why they serve it everywhere… It’s a light beer that appeals to most non-craft-beer-drinkers, so if you visit KC pass this beer up when recommended as the most popular local brew.
Regardless, Long live Boulevard.

Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA review, via beerbellyblog:

I like drinking this more than the 90 Minute IPA since it isn’t as hoppy. Considering my finances right now, getting 6 instead of 4 also helps! Floral, citric, piney. Hoppy enough, but not too much for those trying it for the first time. Pleasant bitterness at the beginning and ends clean. It’s very crisp and refreshing, balanced, medium bodied, smooth and very drinkable.

This is also one of my favorite beers to keep in the fridge, because it’s tasty and inexpensive!  So glad Dogfish HEad has brought this beer back into six-packs, for everyday imbibery.

I’ve been saving my Schlafly Biere de Garde for almost 3 years now; I wonder how it will taste different by the time I open it.

Beer Luck: Biere de Garde
For this Beer Luck we  had the Ommegang Biere de Mars, Schafly Biere de Garde and the Jolly Pumpkin Oro De Calabaza. We all agreed the Biere de Mars was very underwhelming due to its mild and watery characteristics (no brett detected, no spice, little flavor, very mild carbonation) which led us to believe it was cellared incorrectly and would have to be tried again. The Schafly was better than the Biere de Mars but it was still overall a bit of a dud. However, the Oro de Calabaza was world class and brought the funky spicy flavors we were all expecting for the style.
